The year is 1933. Alfred is born within earshot of Saint Mary-le-Bow's bells, rendering him a genuine Cockney lad. In the fall of 1940, the seven year old Alfred comes in direct contact with the war for the very first time. The German Luftwaffe strikes London, changing his view of his home town forever. If he isn't already interested in military tactics, in weapons and aircraft and spy novels, this spurs him on. He needs to know not only why the war started, but how it can be stopped.

During his years at school, he develops several areas of interest, two of which are technology and the arts - acting, in particular, being convinced that there's no better morale booster than theatre. When the time come to go to university, Alfred does the opposite of what his mother and (absent) father want, and goes to art school. (Little does he know then, that somewhere along the way, he will be recruited by the Secret Service. But hush! It's a secret!)

After his education is completed (mid-fifties), Alfred joins the army, wanting to serve his country like he couldn't as a boy. He goes to Burma in the sixties.

Oh, and by the time Thomas Wayne steals him away from the United Kingdom, Alfred is a former secret agent shh! assigned to the royal court.
